How long for USPS Insurance claim to settle?

I recently purchased an item on ebay and paid for insurance. The post office said it was delivered, but I never received it. Unfortunately, I believe the item was stolen since the postman said he left it outside my apartment door (which I believe he's NOT supposed to leave items if there is insurance and I'm unavailable, but that's a whole other issue). I filed a claim with USPS to get the funds back. Has anybody had to do this before and about how long did it take to settle? Thanks!

1. Unless it was sent with signature requirement - which is NOT automatic with insurance - as long as the postman delivered it there, it's not their problem any more. I think they'll send you a denial within 30 days.
