What are some freight companies that will ship personal items to another state?

I'm looking to have my belongings (e.g. clothes, musical instruments, cd's) shipped to another state and I DON'T WANT to use Fedex or UPS, they're way expensive. I don't have a lot of things - maybe only a few large boxes and some musical instruments. Are there freight companies that will ship my belongings for a flat rate or will give me a good deal?

1. Sure. Look in the phone book under "Freight". You also might check with the US Postal Service on rates and sizes. DHL might be good - they are nationwide.
2. U.S. Mail You can choose Express to ship overnight, Priority will ship in 2 or 3 days, and Private First Class will ship in 3 to 5 days. And no, there are no freight companies that will do that, unless you're shipping in bulk. Unless you're starting and clothes, music instrument, and CD store and mass shipping, then no I'm sorry.
3. you have a few options USPS united states postal services which are significantly cheaper and so is DHL. You could also just fly there, get a cheap ticket or something.
4. Most household goods movers--the same kind of moving company that you would hire to move all your furniture--can handle partial loads. You have to wait for them to have a truck with empty space on a load going to the same area, because otherwise they would charge you for the truck. However, you say you have a few large boxes, so I am envisioning an amount of goods that might fill a closet. If so, this could be the perfect way to ship your goods. They can also store them pretty inexpensively until they have a truck going where you want your items sent, so call a couple of van lines and see what they can do. I'm sure it will be considerably less than shipping by parcel post or FedEx. Good luck! I hope this helps.
