Group of postal employees looking for an attorney to help stop harrassment and intimidation.?
We are a group of 20 employees in CT looking for an attorney to help us. We ahve been working under condtions that have gotten progessively worse. Our complaints both verbal and written are not being taken seriously. There are so many more details but the big question is.....How can we locate an attorney who knows employment law and how it applies to the post office which likes to think it is untouchable. In addition we have filedd complaints with our union but our union reps are volunteers from outside our office. They do not return our calls or represent us as they should. They care just as culpable because they are well aware of the situation. The person doing the harassment has been removed from multiple offices because of the wya she treats people. She has been removed from our office twice. The postal service didn't know what to do with her so they sent her back to us. ughhhhhh.

- How do you intimidate a postal worker? That is placing your life in jeopardy.
- Don't you have a union, or some other organizational entity? If you do, then they should represent you. If you don't, you are probably fucked because you work for the Federal gov't.
- heck yeah, take down the post office from the inside, you've made me so happy
- What country are you in? where is CT? Try the internet under legal services in Aussie, there is a link that will supply you with several in your area. Then take your pick. America possibly the same.
- There are a few things to do: 1. File a grievance with the post office. If you are not satisfied then; 2. Check with the EEOC @ http://www.eeoc.gov This is the government agency that handles harassment and discrimination claims in the workplace. The have a lot of FAQs. But sometimes they will represent you. 3. Call your local bar association and ask them for a referral for a plaintiff's lawyer who is experienced in representing workers who work for the post office. I am not a lawyer. Only licensed lawyers can give legal advise.
- Why aren't you taking this through the union?
- Here are a few suggestions: 1.Contact the Bar Association in the county where you live and see if they have a lawyer referral service; 2.Go to www.lawyers.com and do a search under employment law in the state where you live. Start contacting the attorneys that come up on that list. 3.www.findlaw.com is another website with the same type of information as no. 2. 4.Submit your case to a website such as www.legalmatch.com, and see if any attorney on their panel is interested.
