Postal Letter

Anybody else think that the Postal Service shouldn't stop the mail on Tuesday?

I couldn't believe this when I read in on the news this morning. If they have no mail on Tuesday, There will be no mail for 3 days several times a year when Holiday's fall on Mondays. That crazy! Personally I think the Postal employees make way too much money. I think they need a pay reduction instead of putting everyone else out. Thing is they are still going to raise the stamps up to 44 cents in a couple months. Why?

  1. Economics my dear, economics. No more, no less.
  2. You'll get the mail on Wednesday. I personally don't see it as being a big deal.
  3. That's what I said last night after the evening news. They shoulda thought about this a little more. Why not stop it on Saturdays...if they really HAVE to stop it? And, oddly enough, I always get my most important things in the mail on Tuesdays. Chronos dear, we're Americans. This is something we can complain about. And it's in our nature to complain about things so you just shoosh!
  4. it just shows how far our once great nation has fallen...
  5. Tuesday's the lightest delivery day. If it isn't Tuesday, then it would be Saturday, which still leaves you with 3 mail-free days around holidays. The amount mailed Wednesday-Friday is much higher than the beginning of the week.
  6. to me this isn't that big a deal, i only check my mail 2-3 times a wk. anyway
  7. Better cut the number of days mail is delivered than to lay off their employees. There are too many people now out of work and if they can figure out a way not to lay off then I say "Go for it"
  8. Most of the reason the Postal Service is not bringing in as much money is that with email and electronic bank and utility services the volume of mail is way down. Toss in the overnight and parcel competition from UPS and FedEx and they just don't have the business to run six days. Not only is it more economical, it is also more efficient energy wise without having all those postal vehicles on the road just one extra day. And the reduced volume of mail is saving on resources as well. One extra day of no delivery is no big deal no matter what day it falls on.
