Postal Letter

Why do postmen have to sign the official secrets act?

I heard it on the news this morning.. obviously if the answer breaches any security issues I don't want to know, I was just wondering what is so very secret about the postal service...

  1. So they won't tell anybody what they learn when they read your mail.
  2. They are not permitted to give others sensitive info like address changes, credit collection attempts, people receiving items through the mail that are considered either pornographic, or sensitive, there are other reasons but these are the main ones, postal carriers have a very strong union and this act is one that if a carrier or postal employee violates it they can be dismissed.~
  3. To protect your rights of privacy and confidentiality.
