Will the post office investigate mail fraud committed by government?
If a tax collector uses sleazy tactics to try to collect taxes from people who didn't even incur those taxes, and those tactics include committing mail fraud, will the post office investigate? Or are tax collectors immune from post office investigations because they work for a government?

- If it truly is mail fraud, contact the post office immediately. Each area has it's own boss, and they will do what they see fit in this instance. You could also try getting an IRS tax attorney to make them leave you alone.
- A local tax collector is just as subject to the law as any citizen. The postmaster can and will prosecute mail fraud. Not only that, but if the tax collector does break such a law, he is guilty of malfeasance as well and is subject to arrest, prosecution, and imprisonment. In other words, if a tax collector were to commit mail fraud, he would committing two crimes at once.
