Postal Letter

Postal service in Australia?

I purchased something on eBay recently and the seller says the dvd I purchased was allegedly lost. He sent me a replacement and gave me a tracking number, however he's saying I'll have to CALL to track it??? I'm in the USA and this is going to cost me to call Australia. Isn't there a website I can use to track this package? In the US we have a postal service website and we can enter the tracking number to find out the status/information on it. Can someone please help me?

  1. This website might be able to help you. www.auspost.com.au/
  2. It will depend on which service he has used. Registered International won't have online tracking. But if they have used International Express or Courier through Australia Post these will have online tracking. But it is the Sellers responsibility to track the parcel for you (Customer Service). If they will not help you have the Dispute Console to lodge a 'Purchase not Received' that will make them track down the parcel quickly. Also if you paid by paypal you may be able to lodge a claim with them as well. International Post can be strange. Sometimes I have had items shipped to the US in 4 days and sometimes 3-4 weeks. I have heard others taking up to 3 months to arrive. You will need to put back onto the Seller that it is their responsibility that what you paid for arrives, which is what the tracking is for.
  3. Also, I'm not sure that you, as the receiver, can check the status of a package - just recently when trying to track a (interstate, not international) express parcel, my customer was unable to check the status, I had to chase the parcel, Australia Post would only answer to the sender, not the receiver.
