Can you send a money order through USPS?

Im sellingan Ipod and this guys says hes sending me a money order through USPS and then sending me a FedEx shipping document so I can send the ipod. He forward me an email saying: Dear xxxx, United States Postal money order ® Auction Payments hereby congratulate you and at the same time informing you once again that the ® Money OrderSM sent to you from xxxx has been Approved.® Money OrderSM : $240.00 Auction Item : Ipod 30g Auction Site: Craigslist Please verify that the following address (as entered by the buyer) is correct once again. Name : xxx Address : xxx City : xxx State :xxx Zip Code : xxx Country : xxx The money order has been approved and it has been sent to the address provided by the buyer immediately, you should be able to recieve it in 2 to 3 business day. You are also expected to ship out the item and send the shipment tracking number to us for verification. And if you have any question, feel free to contact our customer service centre (contactsonline@post.com ) is that a true email from usps? this is what he emailed me: Hello xxx Thanks for getting back to me as soon as possible with your full name and address i have forward the address to Usps for the payment And this is how it works as soon as i have forward your address to Usps for the payment usps will send you the payment approval confirmation to you via your email address so as to notify you that the payment i made i made as been confirmed approved and as soon as you have recieved the payment approval confirmation via your email i will have to send you the FedEx shipping document as soon as possible so that you can used that to send out the package out NOTE.I want you to remove the posting from craigslist okay Get back to me as soon as you have gotten the payment confirmation... xxx the x's are to hide my info and his please help i have never done this before and want to make sure im not being scamed. please get back to me asap Reminder : the x's are to hide my info and his Thank u can usps approve the money order to? Like approve its not a fraud? And yes Im not sending the Ipod till I get the payment and cash the money order. :)

1. sure you can send a money order via usps. I'm not sure I'd send the ipod until the money order arrived though, to be safe.
2. I've never heard of it. All I know is that you can go to the post office and get a postal money order and mail it yourself. Have you looked up this so called "USPS money order auction payment" to see if it's real? It's sounds very odd to me. As far as I know..post.com is a free email service and has nothing to do with the USPS. Tell this guy that if he wants the item..he needs to send you a USPS postal money order. FYI...people send FAKE money orders all the time. IF you do get one...go to the post office to verify it's the real thing. I really do think this is a scam. It happens all the time on craigslist
