How do I send a package using USPS from USA to Europe?

I want to send a package (containing a pair of shoes) to a friend of mine who is studying abroad in Latvia. How do I do this at the USPS? What sorts of forms will I need to fill out? Thank you!

1. Go to your local post office and they will tell you what forms to fill out. I know sending from the US to the UK you must fill out a customs form and that's it.
2. You put the shoes in a box, wrap it up, address it and take it to the post office just like any other package. There you will have to fill out a Customs Declaration form listing the contents and its value. Then you just have to pay the postage. The clerk at the counter will tell you exactly what form you need. Really simple.
