I've just driven my 04 Mondeo 2 ltre DCI LX home after taking delivery from the garage.?
Something that I did not pick up on the test drive is that the friont windscreen has heating elements in it and these are extremely wavey and noticable. Is it the same with all this model of car and can anything be done about it? What ought I do as I found it very distracting. Could the fact that I wear varifocal glasses have anything to do with it. All the years I have driven various makes of car I have never seen anything so obvious as this. Even my hubbys ford van is not like this. Just got rid of a Saab dear and it was rubbish! Believe me it was rubbish! William H...... Horses for courses great car for towing whereas the Saab was useless

- I think I know what you mean - like the ones in most back windows? That must be very distracting to drive - is it legal? Although if it really is that noticeable, I can't understand why you didn't pick it up in the test drive.
- It has a heated screen. Nothing you can do about it. You won't notice this after a few days.
- you can replace with non heated screen .but would be expensive....
- this was a new technology that was fitted on all ford mondeos, if you persist with it you do find it less noticable as time goes on, but you could always replace it with a clear screen at your local windscreen centre for about 200 quid.
- it is noticeable for the first few days then you adjust to it, wife had same prob with her new focus.
- Most of the modern fords have heated front screens nowadays. I've never really noticed the elements when driving one before so it could be your glasses that are making it more noticeable. Either take the car back to the dealer or get the windscreen replaced with one that doesn't have the heated element in it. If you windscreen is broken and you have fully comp insurance you can usually get it replaced and you'll only have to pay the excess (usually £50/£60) you won't lose your NCB either. Hope this helps?
- Must be your glasses. On my 2nd car with a heated windscreen. Last car was Jag, present is Ford and I have to look really hard to even see the heating elements! Never notice them under normal conditions.
- GET A BETTER CAR LOVE <<<< SORRY >>>> THATS ALL I CAN SAY
- You'll get used to it. I had a hire Mondeo for a week once during the winter, and for a day or two I found the tiny wires a bit distracting, particularly at night against the streetlights, but believe me, I came to appreciate the feature in the frosty mornings! Totally genius idea, wish my Alfa had a heated windscreen!
- HI when i first purchased my first ford with the heated window i was also distracted by it. However after a few weeks of driving you dont notice it any more, in fact just wait for a cold icy morning and you will never want a car without it again. I have had 4 fords since and i always ensure that it has this feature. Best invention yet, all cars should have it. The problem is that you have a tendancy to focus on it as it is new to you, my advice is do your best to ignore it. Hope you get used to it. Good luck
- Feel proud of the wavy lines in your windscreen, because anyone driving a car without the blue oval won't have one! They're just jealous you don't have to squirt de-icer over your windscreen in a morning, you just get in and watch it all melt! Ford have the patent for that nifty little invention, and they're being selfish with it. A good tactic for not noticing the lines anymore is to watch further into the distance, instead of focusing on your windscreen lines. Focusing on a point 12 inches in front of your face, and not the rear of the car in front of you could seriously damage your Ford's front end =D
