When ups and mailman bring my delivery from Ebay do i have to be home to sign something?

On eBay i purchased two items, a phone and a battery. The phone will be shipped via ups, and the battery by mail my question is when ups brings my phone, will i have to sign something? if yes, what if i am not home? And how about the mailman bringing my battery. Do i have to sign something?

  1. You do not have to sign anything for the ebay purchase ... it will be left on your doorstep or mailbox. As for UPS, it depends .... someone else on here probably knows. And yeah, listen to "My Evil Twin" ... he knows.
  2. Yes you do have to sign for it. Phone the company and say what time is good time to deliver to you.
  3. If the USPS delivery is by standard mail then no signature is required. If there is a confirmation of delivery or registered mail to deal with then you have to sign for it. UPS often doesn't require a signature for residential delivery since they understand that the recipient is often not at home. However if someone is home it's a good idea to have them sign for it.
  4. I've never had to sign for UPS packages. I think it depends on if the sender requests a signature as proof of delivery. Some times he will take my packages to my neighbor. I believe the same applies to the battery, if the sender requests a signature. If you are not home at the time of delivery the mail carrier will leave a pink slip in your mailbox and you will have to go to the post office to pick it up. If no signature is required it will be left in your mailbox, or the same type of notice to go the postoffice to pick it up.
