What are the necessary steps that i need to take to ship a package (book) using the postal service?

I am trying to ship a book to a guy in RI but i have never used the postal service to ship anything. I already have the book packaged up an ready to go and all i need to known is how to correctly address the package and how to give it to the USPS. What the USPS make you do when you step by step when you give them a package?

1. If it is properly addressed and packaged, just take it to any post office during regular business hours. A window clerk will be happy to help you. It's very easy.
2. After you address the package, take it to the post office. They will weigh it and tell you what it costs to ship it. They will ask you if you want first class, parcel post or Media mail. Info about all these services are available at usps.com
