POSTAL JOB OFFER!! Please help!?

I took the postal test a Year ago and scored pretty well. I just received an email from the post office about a job I applied for. It send mix signals. The question is, Is this long term? What does it mean? I know that you start out "part time" but still get 40 hours. My main concern is, Getting this job and then getting layed off. What is a transitional carrier? Please help! 1. Just the fact that they are interested in you is a good thing. By all means go and do the work. If you perform well, as a job opens up, they will consider you first for it. The post office is a great paying and secure position in today's world ! Best of luck !
2. Most likely this is upstaffing for the Christmas season, however that's hardly anything to sneer at - 20+ dollars an hour is pretty good pay for a temp job. And it's a simple fact that finding a job when you have one can be much easier - you have money coming in which may make you more calm mentally and the fact you're willing to work short-term rather than wait around for the perfect position to come along demonstrates an attractive work ethic to prospective employers.
