Postal Letter

I'd like to "shove" a bunch of postal zip codes into a map and have them displayed. To plot clients. Ideas?

I'd like to "shove" a bunch of postal zip codes into a map and have them displayed. "importing" from a csv would be ideal. Any ideas? Willing to purchase an app, use Google/Yahoo/MapsOnUs/etc - I don't care - just need a way to show thousands of specific zip codes on a map. THANKS! I should clarify something... I'm not having difficulty learning what zip codes are where (geographically), I want to feed a thousand zip codes (in one big dose) to something that sticks a marker (like a push pin) for each of these on a map. Pretend with me for a sec... Imagine me handing you a csv file tomorrow morning with 1000 zip codes in it and asking you to show me on a map where each is located. Before solving this as a one-time problem, now imagine me handing you a file containing different codes every single day. Also pretend that this is your only job and you get to leave work every day once these zips are "pinned" on the map. Oh, yeah - you are on a salary with full benefits. Though it's not my reality, the slick solution to this daily task would solve my problem. Many, many thanks for the effort(s)!

  1. just go to the postal web and get theirs. i live in a metropolitan and our yellow pages has a map like this in it.
  2. It would not be that hard to do, the only problem is that there is no way you could display all zip codes on a single map. Just not enough space. You will have to somehow break your map down in specific areas that then drills down to secondary maps
  3. Check out "yahoo maps api". You may need to convert zip to lat and long. There are free databases that do that.
