Rex Grossman?????????????????
OK, so everyone says in the 2006 Superbowl season, that our D lead us to the Superbowl. Grossman doesn't get any credit? PREVIOUS SEASONS: 2006 - Started every game, including all 3 postseason contests, while compiling 3,193 gross passing yards, the 2nd most in team history (Erik Kramer, 3,838, 1995) on 262-of-480 passing with 23 TDs and 20 INTs during the regular season… His 23 TD passes were tied for 4th most in franchise history while he ranked 2nd in attempts and 4th in completions… His 12.19 yards per completion average was 7th highest in the NFL… Just the 6th passer in franchise history with 20 or more TDs in a season… Had 47 passes of 20+ yards, 7th most in the NFL, including 11 that went for TDs (tied for 4th most)… Directed the Bears to a 13-3 regular season record, the most wins by a Bears starting QB in a single-season dating back to 1935… Earned NFC Offensive Player of the Month honors in September after throwing for 250+ yards in all three games during the season-opening month with 6 TDs and an overall passer rating of 100.0… Earned FedEx Air NFL Player of the Week honors vs. DET (9/17/06) after completing 20-of-27 passes for 289 yards with a career-high 4 TDs and 148.0 passer rating… Earned 2nd FedEx Air NFL Player of the Week award in 3 weeks after completing 17-of-31 passes for 232 yards and 2 TDs for a 100.5 passer rating vs. SEA (10/1)… Threw for 339-gross passing yards vs. TB (12/17) for the 10th 300-yard passing effort in franchise history at Soldier Field, ending the Bears streak of 72 straight regular season games without a 300-yard passer, while earning NFC Offensive Player of the Week honors. Why wouldn't he get credit, He played great, and he should still be playing.... Starting, for the Chicago bears. So now the offseason, whats gonna happen to Rex?
Public Comments
- ^^^^^^ Agreed Yes, your defense did bring you to the Superbowl. THEN they finally realized Rex was baddddd and they got Orton or w/e his name is.
- chicago has always been a running team. he might have accomplished a lot of things that no other QB did with the franchise, but how many QBs have played for them that was actually good. the defense has always and will always carry the bears.
- Hopefully we get rid of him hester urlacher and orton and get some decent receivers or next year will be as bad. Oh yeah mike brown and the rest of the secondary needs to go to.
- its his decisions wen being rushed that gives him a bad name but wen he has time to pass he will be great but hvin 20 interceptions suks 1/2 of the interceptions rnt his fault thou now kyle does better wen being rushed n that's the dfference orton is smarter n for the offseason he will stay
- Rex Grossman?????????? IS GAY
- Ok so he did have one good season.....but so did Derek Anderson and look what he has done recently. Either way you need a new quaterback I guess Orton might be able to lead the team, but if you get another quaterback then I can only assume that orton would be a backup and they would get rid of rex
- Rex Grossman, like all other QBs from the University of Florida .... has been a complete failure in the NFL. im VERY impressed that he threw for 300+ yards against the Bucs ..... Chris Redman had a 300 yard game last season ..... is he a good QB as well ? the idiocy of some of the questions posed in this section never ceases to amaze me.
- You must have also forgotten about his many mental errors and the many games the Bears won where they scored more on defense and special teams than they did offensively. He had many dropped snaps leading to fumbles. He is aweful under pressure. The mental errors come the most under pressure. Best example: The SB. Thumbs up to those who agree.
- Ok first of all NO one is denying Grossman had a decent year in 05-06 season. But do you remember his superbowl performance. I sure do, and it was not good. Grossman did take alot of heat in chicago but there is no way he should still be starting. His biggest problem was turnovers. Bottom line if your going to start at QB, espically in the NFL, you have to avoid turnovers which he did not do ever since the superbowl. Whether it was interceptions or fumbling the snap Grossman was a turnover waiting to happen. He lost a lot of confidence and no longer could be trusted. They gave Grossman 3years as the starter and couldn't keep the job. I say he got his fair shot and he blew it. Grossman will not be back in a Bears uniform. He has lost respect from the fans and shows cuz they boo him whenever they get a chance. Lovie no longer trust him and thats why he was benched. Orton played well enough this year to get the job next year but the bears might bring in someone else to push him. so lemme just say it like this. Without that defense Grossman never plays in the super bowl And when he got to the super bowl he didnt perform to well. In other words, It's time to go.
