US Postal Service jobs, how to get them?

I'm searching on the USPS website for exam openings and there are hardly none. If there are no exam openings does that mean they are not hiring? The only job opening I see are maintenance positions and temporary positions. How long is the typical temp position? Should I visit a post office and ask them about their openings or is this website recent?

  1. They have a nationwide hiring freeze right now. There is no such thing as a temp to permanent job. Don't go to your local post office for info they can't help you find the local employment office in your city, that's where have to go, or the website. When the do hire again, only except a career position, you start of a s part time but you get convert to full. If you take a position as a TE, temporary employee your only employed for a year. if you take a position as a casual, your employment can be terminated at any time.
