Postal Letter

What happens to a letter/package that has the wrong postal code?

I was recently sent something that had the wrong postal code, but correct address. What are the chances of me still receiving it? By the way, I live in Canada, if it helps. There is no return address. It was international.

  1. You'll probably still get it (if it was mostly right). I've had many a mis-written postal code still end up in the right place. If not, it will just be returned to the sender.
  2. I used to work for ups.. so there might be two things that may happen. !. if youre lucky they can sinc it and figure that its going to you, the cahnces are kind of slim becasue im sure your street name is not the only of its kind in the world... or 2. after awhile the sender will get it back.
  3. So far you have gotten wrong answers to your question. It goes to the Dead Letter Foundation in Washington DC. Even if you live in Canada. No one may retrieve the letter! You technically can not proove that you sent the letter anyway.
  4. The post office will correct it.
  5. You will still get it. It may just take a bit longer but most mail services will do their best to deliver. (Mail was delivered for decades without the use of codes)
