fedex tracking number help.?

well my friend is shipping me a package and i asked him for a tracking number. i know hell send it to me. but he said that fedex will EMAIL him the tracking number within 24 hours. is this correct? they dont just give you the tracking number when you give them the package??

1. Well he should have gotten a copy of the paperwork when they picked it up. Seeing how its a long number (for both UPS and Fedx) I typically do the same thing when I ship a package I simply forward the email i receive from the company so that there is no chance I miskey the tracking number. Be patient ..
