How long does it take USPS to update tracking on there website?

I think he sent it yesterday in the afternoon or maybe at night, should the item be on the USPS tracking website already or not?

1. This is the travel section, but I can try to help. USPS says that packages usually appear within 24 hours of shipping, but in reality, it can take longer.
2. okay, this is the REAL answer, because i work with USPS. It can take minutes to several hours. Example=You're expecting a package in Houston TX. When the package arrives at the Houston Post Office, it's scanned (11:00pm) However the postal clerk does not "hang up" the scanner (to allow the information to be downloaded). At about 5 am, the scanner alerts the user that it's running out of juice so they finally hang it up. SO, 6 hours after scanning it's finally updated! Note to fellow USPS affiliates= Hang Up your damn scanners!!!!!!
