- The flat rate envelopes and boxes have set rates and you can find the standard rates on the USPS.com website. The flat rate fees require that you use the flat rate envelopes and flat rate boxes (these boxes and envelopes are available to order for free on the usps site). The flat rate prices likely more costly than if you were to just send something first class or priority mail in your own box, but it might be cheaper for someone that is on the other side of the country or in Hawaii or Alaska. Parcel Post is the standard mail service - you can use any box you want and it will probably take 2-9 days depending on how far the box has to travel. Priority mail is slightly faster service and will get there in 2-3 days. Express is overnight. Media mail is super slow but it is cheaper than first class prices. There are restrictions on what can be shipped via media mail (usually just books, cds, and things of that nature). Hope this helps.
