How do you get a job at the US postal service?
All I have is a high school diploma. Do I need more education?

- be mentally unstable!
- High School Diploma Is All That's Needed. Look In You Local Newspaper For Hiring Positions Most Likely. I'm Very Should You Would Be Eligable to Deliver Mail If That's what You Wanna Do. -Testing -Training
- Depends on what particular job you want as to whether you need more education. What you do is you go in and apply and take a test.
- You have to take a Civil Service Exam, and if you score high enough, they will place you in line for jobs at the post office, social security office, etc. You might be able to find on line where the exam is going to be given and when. Here's what I just found: http://federaljobs.net/exams.htm And no, you don't have to have any college. A high school diploma is sufficient.
- You probably need to be good a throw packages labeled with "FRAGILE". Really, depends which role you're talking about. There'd be a lot of laborious drudge work in a postal service, they won't call for much.
- Go to www.usps.com and click on careers. First, you need to sign up to take the exam for the job you want. You will get a notice in the mail telling you when and where to take the test. Your test date will be several weeks away. While you are waiting for test day, go to the library and check out books on the postal exam. I took the rural carrier exam and found it to be difficult because there is one section where you have to memorize street names and addresses. Passing the exam does not mean you will be offered a job or even called in for an interview. It simply means that your name will be placed on a list for the next two years. The people with the highest scores will be called first. The process of being hired is very slow.
- A high school diploma/GED is sufficient for most of the positions within the USPS. The hiring process for career employment is tedious and long. Yes, you have to take an exam to become eligible for career employment. No, you do not need to take the exam for temporary employment. In the near future, the USPS will be laying off approximately 16,000 career employees. So, the likeliness of the Exam 473 (entry exam) being given any time soon, is not gonna happen!
