Postal Letter

Other than 100,000's of Postal workers going Postal will we really miss the Postal Service if they go under?

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090325/ap_on_go_ot/postal_woes Lets just say they are not our "best and brightest. Most without the USPS would be on the welfare roles or incarcerated. Who mails anything any more. The only crap you get is junk mail. Save a tree eliminate the Post Office.

  1. Who will step on my daffodils?
  2. Another great job at business management by our federal government! ** Seriously...... How can you go under when it costs 42 cents to mail one letter? They handle over 200 Billion pieces of mail per year.
  3. fed ex and ups are too expensive for those ebay items I am selling to survive.
  4. This should provide a conundrum to "strict constitutional constructionists" as it is specifically mandated in the Constitution...
  5. We need to keep them as a model for our up and coming health care system. Hey when was the last time they turned a profit?
  6. nooooo...how will all those stimulus checks get to the 95% and those that never pay taxes
  7. Yes, I bet there is a reason you postmark a letter with the post office and don't fedex your bill payments and birthday cards.
  8. What kind of question ,I don't understand what you are saying. please revised
  9. I remember a time not too many decades ago when the mailman was friendly and always had a kind work. Not so these days! They have attitude of union workers. Hey! They ARE union workers!! See what went wrong??? They are grossly overpaid for their jobs and as a result the service is tanking.
  10. Yeah...sorry, but I don't really put a lot of faith in the opinions of someone who calls themselves "Hillary's clam"....are you an adult?
  11. We need the Postal Service , but we could go without Saturday delivery
  12. of course, I like getting my mail. Like AIG they are too big to fail,*
  13. I'm curious about your source for your additional details about them being on welfare or incarcerated if not employed by USPS. I'm certainly no fan, but do you have some study of the IQ or criminal aptitude of the average postal worker, or are you taking another random stereotype and exaggerating? I'm attaching the pay info I found for those of you that think they are just raking it in.
  14. That would kill the Good House Keeping magazine and Publishers Clearing House contest. I say keep them, otherwise my Mother in Law would have to find something else to do!!!
  15. Delivering the mail in a reasonable time to the correct address is about the only thing the Government does right. Probably because Congress isn't always screwing with it. They will never let the USPS fail. Too many Fed Union workers.
  16. I prefer sending stuff UPS or FedEx anyways. A government agency like the USPS is always incompetent. Even the dummy who brings my mail can't read box numbers. I hate even thinking how much mail I don't receive.
  17. They beat the heck out of Fed Ex or UPS! They are cheaper and easier. I don't have to think about the mail. Those other places require me being present to get packages, require signatures, require phone calls for pickups or me delivering the package to them. USPS is a great service and I disagree about its workers. Maybe you should try talking to your mail delivery person. They are good citizens just like everyone else.
  18. Let's see, a first class letter costs a whopping 42 cents, Express Mail is cheaper than Fed Ex and UPS Overnite and they will deliver it on Saturday for no extra charge and unlike Fed Ex and UPS I've never had them fail to deliver it the next day. Yep, I'd miss the Postal Service, definitely.
  19. .. and people want Universal Healthcare?? Maybe they don't realize that the Postal Service is controlled by the same government that would control healthcare? Back on topic.. UPS or FedEx can't possibly handle letter style mail, especially not at stamp rates of postage. Maybe we just need to strip the USPS down to more basic services. And shipping internationally is a whole lot easier and cheaper through the USPS than other services.
  20. Wow. I know a person that works in the post office in a nearby city - and he is not a dummy by far. And he is hardly the type that would end up on welfare, either. Let's examine what happens when we generalize. . . 1. No one takes you seriously 2. You look like an ignoramus 3. Your level of intelligence is viewed as lacking I think maybe we need to stop generalizing, and start stating FACTS.
  21. Some mail must still be sent physically. The Post office itself might not be the answer, if UPS or Fed-Ex could plan something out then lets go with them. I also think the post office could go to a 3 day work week and cut their costs. Make their workers take concessions as Washington is asking of all these banks and auto industry workers. Their Post office losses billions per year and we are bailing them out, they run on our tax dollars.
  22. The Department of Motor Vehicles Traffic Court The US postal service Walter Reed The VA Jury Duty Your local county clerk The welfare office The Unemployment office The Department of Labor The EPA etc. 0'Bama is planning on CHANGE for our system of health care to be on a par with the above. WARNING! Do not get old and do not get sick. To die young will be patriotic under 0'Bama.
  23. no, i pay things via internet
  24. Well considering that my mother is a mail lady I do not think she will be going postal anytime soon. But maybe I should ask her just to be safe? She was in fact supposed to retire this year, but due to this economy that has been pushed back another 5 years or so. Also, I feel the postal service will be missed. For the most part it is free, though everyone complains about raising stamp prices. How much is a stamp these days 42 cents?? oh my!
  25. I agree, but there are still people without computers.
