Do I need to go to the postal office or I can slip it in my mailbox?

I want to ship a small letter from Glendale, California to San Mateo, California. Can I slip the letter in my mailbox or I need to go to a postal office? Thanks! F.W.I sorry I put it in the wrong topic just need it answered quickly.

2. I don't mean to be rude, but haven't you heard of mailing a letter before? You stick it in your mailbox, put up the flag, and the mailman takes it. Just make sure you remember stamps.
3. You should be able to leave stamped mail in your mailbox.
4. It really depends I mean if it is your average letter (small average size light Weight) sure drop it in the mail box. If it is ackward shape then take it in. If you are doubt take it in.
5. Just put it in your mail box. and depending on what time ur mail is picked up, you might want to take it to the post office. And why a hurry for this answer, it's night time and no mail is going anywhere till morning.
