What does the US postal service do with lost mail?
If I were to accidentally send something to an address that doesn't exist and didn't include a return address - what would happen to it?

- They probably just get rid of it. There is no return address so there is no reason to waste time and energy finding the sender.
- It goes to what is called the Dead Letter Office, which is a big storage area and they hold it. I believe if you feel your letter has been lost you can make plans to go look for it in the local DLO nearest where your mail gets distributed.
- Dead letter office.
