What is the delivery rate for sending a postal letter?

I need to send an urgent a postal letter. It's in the same state and same city. ie. from Newark to Newark. I just need to send the letter to be arrive on the same day. I plan to send around morning and arrive by two in the afternoon. I was wondering if I can do that. And if I could do that then what is the delivery rate. I need the answer FAST!!!

1. 42 cents, nothing will get delivered that fast by the USPS, why not drive it over or get a courier?
