Current employer asking for resume?
My friend works for the US Postal Service and they've been asked to turn in updated resumes. This seems to be part of deciding who will be layed off, but is he competing for his job with this resume or are they deciding who has the best chance of finding new employment? Other ideas? Anyone been in this situation before?

- that is very weird sounding. If you work at the post office, what kind of jobs do they expect people they are laying off to get? are they checking to see if they hired former nuclear physicists or airline pilots or something? never heard of anything like that before
- they are probably going to lay people off and they are competing for their current jobs. he should highlight everything hes learned and all the progress he has made. any positive comments from appraisals he should try to work in. they also might be looking to see who has two jobs, and if the people have a second job, they might be more willing to lay them off. so if hes currently working a second job, i think it would be smart to leave that off.
