In your opinion, how reliable is US postal for overnight shipping?

What time would you say the US postal usually delivers? Why is it that people prefer Fedex or UPS? Have their been issues with the US Postal?

1. i've always found them to be reliable, but you usually have to get it in by noon the day you send it to have it arrive by noon the next day. ive actually had more probs with fedex...
2. I'd say that USPS is completely reliable for overnight shipping, however, the time that they arrive could vary anytime between 8am and 5:30pm. People prefer the other services because they have traditionally offered more detailed tracking of the package's location, and the other services have offered "time-definite" arrivals of their packages for overnight delivery ... i.e. it's promised to be there by 10:30am, and 99.9% of the time, it is indeed there before 10:30.
3. People prefer UPS and Fedex because USPS got into overnight delivery late in the game. They learned from UPS and Fedex mistakes.
