What is the best virus protection I can put on my laptop w/o spending too much money? (and actually works)?

I have a Gateway than runs on Windows Vista. But anything Microsoft 2007 I uninstalled just because I didn't like it. I don't know if any of that makes a difference or helps, but I'd really like some feedback about virus protection I can buy.

  1. AVG
  2. http://www.kaspersky.com/
  3. Avast...free.
  4. The free version of AVG works fine.
  5. i think the best is avast home edition, it is also free, get it at www.avast.com
  6. AVG or AVAST No purchase required. Also free Spybot Search & Destroy which compliments from a security standpoint. Consider free Firewall like Comodo or Zone Alarm. Keep all up to date.
  7. Try AVG. It's put out by Grisoft.
  8. Any antivirus that you purchase is best and if you go for free then that may hurt.
  9. i like the program from microsoft, one care live i have used it for almost 3 years, and only had minor problem in early version, with the addition of a small external hard drive, all your back-ups will be automatic. they offer a 90 day trial, its full featured and $49 to buy, at least look at it.
