Is the electric company blackmailing the post office?
I got my electric bill the other day. It's got a lot of paper in it. My itemized bill, my usage summary, return envelope, an advertisement for direct payment, and what we've been up to newsletter. And it only cost them twenty-nine cents to mail it. But when I send them back just a check and the receipt, it's gonna cost ME thirty-nine cents. What's up with that? Do you think they're blackmailing the post office with the threat of turning off their power? Should somebody call the cops?

- Sounds to me like a conspiracy.
- THE MAN is trying to rip you off. Most corporations have deals with the post office. They get bulk rate mailing discounts.
- They get discounted rates from the post office for bulk mailing - however, there is more to this than meets the eye. The answer concerning consiracies is close but he failed to provide more information. The problem is not that they are trying to blackmail but destroy - that is why they are pushing the automatic online bill and bill-pay.
