what job could i try to get in a post office?
I want to work 8 hours a ay, 5 days a week, make good pay and have benefits... What would be a good job for me to try for in the postal, service? FYI: I m 20 years old and almost have an associate in arts degree. I have never worked in the postal services before. I do NOT want to drive a route. What are my options?

- Right now the US Postal Service is not doing well financially. The chances of you getting a full-time job with USPS is very slim. Most likely you will only be able to get a temporary or PRN position. I know people who work for USPS and have been doing PRN work for years trying to get their hands on a full-time position. The average wait for a full-time route position in my area is 5 years of PRN work. In this economy, these jobs (even the PRN) will have stiff competition. There are thousands of people who have lost jobs in warehouses, industrial industries, and offices. These people will more than likely beat you out to any of these positions because they have experience. Stay in school and work on a 4-year degree or a specialized 2-year degree (healthcare, etc.). An Associate's of Arts is not going to get you very far.
- Right now, the only positions open are for transitional employees. These are employees who are not guaranteed any certain amount of hours. Any full time jobs are being held until impacted positions, positions that are going to be eliminated, are determined. Then these employees will be put into the withheld positions. This will hopefully eliminate the need for layoffs. The Postal Service is hopefull that with these and volunteer early retirements, they can turn the business around.
