Can anyone explain the size data from USPS Priority Mail International?

Please take a look at http://www.usps.com/prices/priority-mail-international-prices.htm and search on this site for Priority Mail Regular Flat-Rate Box (FRB-2) (up to 20 pounds). What does the size data 13-5/8" x 11-7/8" x 3-3/8" mean? I don't understand the for example 5/8, 7/8 or 3/8. Thx Andi

  1. Priority Mail boxes are boxes that are available for free from USPS. They are generally referred to as "flat rate boxes" because no matter how much the package weighs, it costs the same amount to mail. The sizes that it refers to is the size of the box. This means that the box measures 13 5/8 inches on it's longest side, by 11 7/8 inches on it's shortest side, and that the box is 3 3/8 inches thick (or deep if you want to think of it that way. This is the only size box that can be used to mail Priority Mail at the rate that you are looking at. Again, the boxes are available from USPS and they are absolutely free.
