Postal Letter

Is it possible for the post office to hold my mail?

I have a friend that is in the army and we've been writing letters to each other secretly! I wonder if I called the post office and ask if they can hold my mail since I don't want my parents to find out. By the way, I am going on a senior trip for 2 days. Is it going to cost me if the post office keeps my mail? I don't have time to stop by at the office but I have their number.Thank you very much for spending the time to answer me. Edit: Does it have to be a state approved ID? Or can I just show them my school ID??

  1. yes it should be possible for them to hold your mail my local Post office does it
  2. Yes it is possible for the post office to hold your mail when you are going away. The post office won't charge you if they keep your mail. The post office won't make a profit from it. They run a business.
  3. Go to the post office. They have a "hold mail" form that you can fill out. They need your signature and a photo ID to hold the mail.
  4. It doesn't cost anything, and they can hold it up to 30 days, but there is a possibility that they may hold all mail and not just yours. You have to go to the post office and fill out a form. Maybe you should just let them get the mail, if they open it and it is addressed with your name it is a federal offense.
