Can you get in trouble for ordering free USPS shipping boxes and not using them?

Someone ordered a lot of free USPS shipping boxes using my name and address, and I don't really want to send them back. Will I get in trouble if I just keep them and don't use them for shipping anything?

  1. no i dont think so
  2. Not necessarily. If it is a fluke or a one time thing, it's not likely that anything would come of it. If it is something that happens continuously, that can be found out and you could be questioned. There was a case in my town where someone was ordering literally tons of these materials and was using them to fire the furnace in his home. It was discovered, and he was prosecuted and was fined, put on probation and made restitution. You could simply give the material to your local PO or just write "Refused" on the package and leave it for your carrier, if you have home delivery.
