Does FedEx Ground only ship using trucks?

I shipped something via FedEx Ground, because I am trying to be more green/eco-friendly and didn't like the idea of the package going on a plane - so wasteful since it's nothing urgent. But then I started thinking... is FedEx Ground really only on the ground, or do they use planes, too? My package is going across the country. I guess my question also should have included: do they only use trucks, or also trains?

  1. Ground means just that.
  2. Within the continental u.s. it will stay on a truck on the ground. Ironically you can ship something via fedex ground to Hawaii and Puerto Rico, and no it's not via boat.
