Is it okay to use a USPS Flat rate priority box for normal 1lbs Priority postage?
I have something that weighs 1 lbs and its cheaper than paying the flat rate postage.

- If you use a flat rate box, you MUST pay flat rate postage. If you don't the article will be returned to you postage due
- A flat rate priority box is the same flat rate price whether the package weights 0lbs or 70lbs...If you can find your own box that seems smaller, use that and you'll save on postage shipping through priority mail.
- There are many other sizes of regular Priority mail boxes available. Simply use one of those other types. I have to add this: Shirley, again, is mistaken. Flat rate containers range in price from $4.95 - $13.95. Retail, at the counter: Small Box & Envelope=$4.95 Medium Box=$10.35 Large Box=$13.95 or $11.95 if sent to an APO/FPO address. Delivery Confirmation 70ยข However, you can print shipping labels for free at usps.com. Small Box & Envelope=$4.80 Medium Box=$9.85 Large Box=$13.50, or $11.50 if sent to an APO/FPO address. Delivery Confirmation included for free with online labels. With just one Priority Mail package ready to go, you can schedule a free carrier pickup, online, for the next day.
- Since the postage rates changed earlier this month, the flat-rate priority envelope and box rates have also changed, ranging from $4.95 for the envelope to $10.35 for the box. The chart for both is included in the link below. It would be wise for you to choose the envelope, since that's a better rate for your one-pound mail.
