What can you do about the post office losing a letter that you sent?
Obviously I should complain, but instead of just complaining to the USPS (who I already contacted, and who didn't really care) is there another agency that can be contacted? Basically I'm out $9 for a letter I sent to the UK because the post office lost it. Can something like the Better business bureau intervene, or is this more or less a lost cause?

- nope
- Just a lost cause. You can't even prove you sent it if you sent in through normal mail.
- If you have a receipt you could actually try to sue them..
- The USPS seems, unfortunately, to be immune to a all complaints. They are some kind of quasi-governmental agency that isn't responsible to anyone. Even though their rates continuously go up. I know hindsight is 20/20, but next time use FedEx or UPS or some other shipper that offers a (real) tracking service.
- u shud confront them before going behind their back to complain. being such a big business they have cases like this often and a dedicated dept to carign for people like you. they WILL help you and i would say u shud give them a chance by contacting that dept with the prob.
- I suspect it's a case of "too bad, so sad." But how long ago did you send it? Sometimes those things take forever to get where they're going. Maybe it just took a detour along the way...?
