Is it wise to send a Post office Money order to pay for something?
I am buying DVD's from someone about 2 hours away. I don't want to drive that far to pick up the movies so i am having him send it over. He says that he has problems trying to cash personal checks so he only accepts post office money orders od checks or something like that. What if he takes off with my money or something? I have his number and all but he can always not pick up.

- If you get a money order from the bank, it will be fine. I do it all the time because I sell on ebay.
- Yes it is as long as you keep the receipt. The receipt has a number that can be traced, the same way a cheque can. If you don't receive your DVD's in a resonable time, call the business and they can trace it from their side. If they can't find it you can trace it from your side, where you purchased the money order. I have done it with no problems at all.
- Yah it can be tracked
- If he has a good feedback rating and more than 100 sales, I think you will be OK. I use U.S.P.S. money orders on ebay all the time. They are like a certified check that can be cashed at any Post Office. Avatarxz
- Post Office money orders are quite safe. As far as him "taking off with your money", that's a trust that he won't type situation. Save the carbon copy of the money order you buy, so if a problem does occur, at least you have proof that you bought it. And the Post Office can tell you if it was cashed and by whom. Then, I guess it's off to small claims court. If it's worth it to you.
- I use money orders all the time to pay all my bills, including my rent. BUT I make sure that I keep all the receipts.
