How does the post office weigh all of the mail individually?
This does not make sense to me. With the milions of letters a day going thru a post office - how is it possible to weigh each letter individually????

- How is it possible to read the address of each letter and know where to deliver it? It only takes a second or two to weigh each piece of mail.
- The front line of the post office is the window clerks. Letters that are dropped in the boxes are processed by employees at each station. For the most part if a letter is overweight(requiring more postage) you can tell because it will a bulky envelope or oversized. If an employee suspects that it is overweight it is then weighed.
