how does someone become a pilot?

i was curious in pursuing a career as a pilot such as one of a Passenger plane or fedex, ect. how does a path to that begin?

  1. Go out to your local airport, and talk to a local airplane business...many will give flight training!
  2. well first you have to get a pilots license and then you probably need some special training...
  3. A good start is to attend a 'Flight School'.
  4. The standard path is to get a 4-year college degree, get all your pilot ratings through a flight school or college($50,000+ USD), and then spend 5-10 years working lower paid entry-level flying jobs in smaller planes before you'll be hireable by a major airline like American or FedEx. The median age for getting hired my a major airline is 34 years old. Very few get hired under age 28. Someone who goes the military route is going to reach at least 28 years of age before they'll get an opportunity to pursue commercial flying in the civilian world.
