What would the UK be like if the Daily Mail ran it?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daily_Mail#Inter-war_period I feel it would be a right wing nightmare. What do you think? Life under those who run the Morning Star would be 'interesting' and I do not think that it would be good for the UK. I read it, but I do disagree with it on many stories. But life under the Daily Mail would be worse IMHO.

  1. We would be living in fear of swine flu-infected European immigrant terrorists who hate fox hunting, who are all involved in a conspiracy to defile Princess Diana as well.
  2. eXTREMELY bORING
  3. Being right wing isn't the problem in my opinion - it's the smugness and igorance of the Mail. What I do know is that every woman would be force fed until we're all over 20 stone so we could quailfy as a "real woman with curves" (the mail's favourite phrase)
  4. Hey lets look at the morning star and the socialist worker then come back with a sensible debate? Edit Mail "immigrants, immigrants " The tabloid socialist press "nazi, nazi" Who is more extreme? History does show who is? I have a good cultural background in knowing the double standards. Edit tabloid press! http://www.socialistworker.co.uk/
  5. The issue is surely about how much we trust our politicians by voting for them directly or we if want government by media. A section of the UK electorate now seems to have put themselves into 'negative anarchy' by thinking it is cool to trust the right wing media or extremist parties above mainstream politics. The internet in my opinion gives a pretty skewed view of politics and voting behaviour, so maybe we should all log off and get back into the real world and talk to our neighbours face to face.
  6. i don't think it could be any worse if micky mouse ran it
  7. If you think the daily mail is right wing you must think lenin, marx, trotsky, Mao and Pol Pot and stalin were all decent middle of the road chaps. The Mail is soft left, its just that you have grown up in an increasingly left wing socialist country and have been brainwashed by the leftie teachers and pundits like those at the BBC to believe anything. Unfortunately the Mail is now staffed predominantly by short, fat ugly women who resent beauty because they don't have any and the journalism there has suffered as a result. But its nothing to do with politics.

  9. Everyone will be held at gunpoint and be forced to shout "It's political correctness gone mad!" every day at least 3 times. 0% tax rate, No parliament, Pure Capitalism, The extremely poor will be hated and be left to suffer along with ethnic minorities, women and old people. Anti-Abortion. Peter Hitchens would be in power! AAAAHHHHH! Thank goodness i still have my Guardian.
  10. The Guardian readers seem to be running the show at the moment and as long as we dont move towards the Morning Star it can only get better from there. If the Mail was in charge and they put some effort into sorting out the things they've been complaining about for the last decade I think it might work out. -we'd leave the EU -immigration would be skills based -taxes would be lower -government would play a smaller part in our lives -the system would get tougher on crime. Meanwhile political correctness would be out of the window and they'd probably try and put Tony Blair on trial. Part of me is starting to like the idea.
  11. The public sector might actually be made to work for a living, actually deliver a service and actually have competent people in charge. It might also be trimmed down rather than being bloated with gold plated non-jobs-for-life which are bleeding the public purse dry. We might see the resurrection of some common sense in the criminal justice system and white heterosexual indigenous middle class working traditional families with Christian values might stop feeling their days are numbered. Perhaps the unmarried Vicky Pollards who have 5 kids by as many fathers might be required to work for their money rather than loafing around binge drinking and handing the rest of us the bill. Perhaps Muslims, homosexuals and travellers might stop being treated as an untouchable protected species. Kids might actually get real education in school and the words tolerance, multiculturalism, diversity and human rights might be put back into perspective. Harriet Harperson would be burned at the stake and thieving politicians would be helping the Fraud Squad with their enquiries. Speaking of which, the police might even start doing actual police work rather than arresting people for islamaphobia, making homophobic comments or for putting the wrong rubbish in their wheelie bins. We might also bury the compensation culture along with its ambulance chasing lawyers. Perhaps freedom of speech might make a come back rather than decent right minded people being turned into criminals just for expressing an honest opinion. Best of all, the government might get on with running the country and keep its damn nose out of our damn business.

  13. One "thought for the week" would be too slow. Have the whole Book the Thoughts come from. (Be Patriotic - use ours. A.K.J.V.)
  14. Peculiar question. 1. It couldn't be much worse ran than it is currently. 2. In the old USSR The state ran Pravda ("Truth" - which it wasn't) or did Pravda run the State? Watch out the Tories are coming to get you.
