Are freight jets pressurised?

I mean, since they're only transporting cargo, FedEx,DHL,UPS,etc. ,they don't really need to pressurize the cabin. Or do they? To put it simply, are they pressurised or not? Penn K., your link doesn't work.

  2. Yes. They have to be heated so the cargo won't freeze. But anyway, it's easier to pressurize the whole aircraft than it is to build pressure bulkheads and seal everything up. Moreover, the bleed air system is probably the same; otherwise, different installation drawings would be required, which costs money.
  3. Yes or else the pilots for get hypoxia and die. usually pressurised between 5,000ft-7,000ft
  4. The larger jets are pressurized, but the most of the small planes are not. Yes, these companies do operate small planes.
  5. they have to be...all aircraft are pressurized so it doesn't get decompressed...so yes its pressurized...in the back is usually a small cabin for workers and they walk around the cargo area inspecting it.
  6. Most of these planes flown are basically the same as their airliner counterparts. They roll off the same assembly line and mechanically they are the same. Obviously, they are a little different; no overhead storage, no provisions for seats and often times no windows. But when it gets down to what makes it tick, you will find the same airplane. That is the biggest reason they are pressurized. Military cargo planes do not usually have civilian counterparts, yet they are pressurized because it adds usability. If they want to transport troops, they can. Great question!
