What movie was about a mailman in post-apocalyptic America?

At least I think it was Post-Apocalyptic America. I forgot the actors and such, but I know the mailman meets a kid who names himself after a car like suzuki or mitsubishi or something.

5. Agreed with the others - Kevin Costner, and it was Ford Lincoln Mercury. OK, it was a bit gung ho ! - but it did have some heroic moments...and some ironic ones, such as the quotations from Shakespeare... and the bit where he met Tom Petty was just superb ! (I admit, I'm a Kevin Costner fan !) Mr Costner did make a few movies where it was "one man against the world"- Dances With Wolves, The Postman, Waterworld, even Field of Dreams ! This may be indicative of something - but don't quote me on that ! Best Wishes !
