Postal Letter

Can you get USPS boxes free at the post office?

On the United States Postal Services (USPS) website you can order their boxes used for shipping for free however you have to pay a shipping and handling fee. I was wondering if you could get it at the actual post office for free as well so I don't have to have them delivered to my door so I don't have to pay S&H. Also I live in NYC, what are the times that the post office is open? Thank you guys!<3

  4. You are not looking at the USPS website. USPS does NOT charge any shipping and handling when you order shipping supplies. There is a small $1 charge if you order stamps though. All materials for shipping Priority Mail and Express mail are provided at no charge and there is no charge for shipping. You must, however, use the materials for the class of mail indicated. It is illegal, and a theft of services to use a Priority Mail box to ship Parcel Post, for instance. You can also get material at your local PO. The selection may be limited though. All available materials are always available online. and, again, there is NO charge for shipping to your door.
