Postal Letter

Can you get USPS boxes for free at the post office?

On the United States Postal Services (USPS) website you can order their boxes used for shipping for free however you have to pay a shipping and handling fee. I was wondering if you could get it at the actual post office for free as well so I don't have to have them delivered to my door so I don't have to pay S&H. Also I live in NYC, what are the times that the post office is open? Thank you guys!<3

  1. If you mean the boxes for shipping via Priority Mail or Express Mail, yes, you can pick up these boxes for free at the PO. The cost of the box is basically included in the price of Priority or Express Mail. If you need other types of boxes, not the ones preprinted for Priority Mail or Express Mail, then you have to buy them. Actually, if you need more than one box, the best place to go is Staples and pick up a pack of boxes for about the cost of 2 boxes at the PO. As for "store hours," generally 8:30 - 4:30 or 9:00 - 5:00. It varies from location to location so you will have to check with your specific PO! Also, many are open Sat a.m. from about 9-noon, maybe a wee bit longer some places. The PO has a website - usps.gov, if I recall. Or google USPS. They may even have the specific hours for various branches & save you a phone call.
