Postal Letter

Is there going to be a postal strike in London?

I'm sure I heard something on the news the past 2 weeks about postal workers voting for a strike but when I googled there was nothing about a strike this year. I just wanna know because I have parcels to post to friends in London this month, I'll send them early if there's going to be a strike. I was hoping someone would know when it was but it sounds like it hasn't been decided yet.

  1. On 01.06.09 Post workers across London have voted for strike action. Collection and delivery would be hugely disrupted if the threatened series of 24-hour walkouts goes ahead, though post offices would remain open. The Communication Workers Union ordered the strike ballot in protest over job threats and working conditions. It claims 1,600 jobs are at risk out of 13,000 in the London area and also warns of cuts in services. You see people do not always strike for better pay some strike because they will loose their job.
  2. very likely, as Mandelson wants to privatise the whole of the Royal Mail, not just a bit of it, and unlikely many people who work within Royal Mail would be too happy with this scenario
