The US Postal System near bankrupt, is this another fine example of a Gov't run program?
And what happens to it in the end? http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090804/ap_on_go_ot/us_postal_closings

- there are a few problems with the U.S. postal service: 1. its vehicles are not fuel efficient 2. people dont send letters anymore. think about how many people use emial to send letters now adays? its free and much faster than mail so why spend money on stamps? its not really the gov'ts fault, and what might happen in the future is people will be charged for sending emails
- The USPS has been losing customers for years due to technology like Email, fax, etc. So it's thinned the herd of sneering, unionized employees, right? Wrong. Just keeps raising the price of postage, and steering even more customers away. But don't you dare suggest that first class mail be opened up to private competition, no way Jose. With corporate discounts, I can send a 2 day Fed Ex letter for 4 bucks or so. Sending it certified mail via USPS is $5.50 or so. Goodbye, USPS, we hardly knew ye.
- Take away the perks and bonus's for the executives, make the employees pay something towards their health insurance, THEN maybe it would not go broke. Lil 1
