Postal Letter

How do I apply for a post office job WITHOUT paying fees up front?

Many ads that I have responded to for postal jobs require a valid credit card or checking account to pay upwards of 150 bucks to start testing to apply for a job. If anyone knows of how I can apply properly, please let me know. Only genuine and mature responses please. Thank you. I agree with "rtfm" that it is common sense to check the local post office but on the contrary, I have and they gave me the stupid 1-800 number that you have to pay to take the test.
