What exactly does the postal strike affect?

I know it affects the post lol. What i want answered is: 1. When do you think the postal strike will end? 2. Can i pick up things that werent delivered eg. A game on release date, from my local royal mail sorting station? or does the postal strike mean it wont reach there either? 3. If question 2 is possible what will i need to take eg. ID?

  1. I will answer 1 question I don't know when it will end but I think when their demands are met.
  2. 1. No idea - depends on the outcome of any negotiations which haven't taken place yet. 2. If mail doesn't get delivered to your home, it will get backlogged somewhere. No-one will be able to tell you where the parcel is in the system. If it gets bad, they will seal up all the post boxes and not accept new mail across the counter at post offices. 3. Yes, if they can find your parcel, they will need to see ID and proof of address.
  3. The strike will end then begin again nearer Christmas. They get overtime for clearing the post and that's needed for their holidays and for Christmas presents. There is an office at the sorting offices that is open at about 07.30 till about noon and there you can pick up your packets. You can go along and ask if it has arrived. You will need ID every time to pick up parcels. The strike seems to be specific to areas some are not affected.
  4. The CWU (Communication Workers Union) are set to hold a series of strikes running right upto and possibly beyond Christmas. There is no end in sight yet and the strikes look set to continue. Why? The CWU opposes the sell off of Royal Mail to the private sector and will do everything it possibly can to disrupt this process. 1. Do not know when the postal strike(s) will end. Try this next link - CWU postal department http://www.cwu.org/postal.html 2. Try phoning your local Royal Mail sorting office - they are usually very helpful and will release mail which they cannot deliver themselves if it's already in their 'care' and at their office. 3 ID - photo driver's license, Passport, Household Utility Bills etc. Ask your local RM Sort Office what they accept as ID. Phone the Royal Mail on this number 08457 740 740 and they will tell you where your local sorting office is located, if you do not already know.
  5. Maybe the C.W.U. should see our Monarch. Unions are a form of "Socialism" - some looking after their own. The B.N.P. has a good title too -
  6. there is one day a week strikes happening until Christmas unless Royal Mail stop acting like sacks . I am part of RM in Glasgow and deal with people wanting to pick stuff up etc . No way will you get it cos it will come to the office manually meaning not walksorted .and no one will look through tons of packets , letters or flats just for 1 game . Even then it will come days or weeks later unless its a special Delivery . Managers focus during strikes is to get the Special Deliveries out . they are priority .I also deal with them and you get the odd time games come as SD but to be honest i cant see your game coming as SD , due to the fact the sender will be sending that many new releases out no way will they pay for all SD ,theyll just say its been sent out and blame Royal Mail for delay due to strike .Meaning youll just need to wait .
