Being Poitically Correct. How does it effect you?
There are a few things over time that I've adopted out of just being correct. Mailman, is mail carrier becaues mine is female. Stewardess is Flight Attendant because they can be male or female. The list goes on about professions. I'm not racist. Not raised that way, don't live that way, don't intend to raise my son that way. We do not mean harm to anyone and now if I say Merry Christmas some people correct me and say "Happy Holidays" What I'm talking about is things that are not said to mean harm. Like God Bless You, Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, things like that. We are forced to say Happy Holidays, or Bless You or whatever. When did it become the responsibility on the speakers to filter what they say and not on the person listening to determine for themselves? Why are people so easily offended by words when malice is not the intent? If someone said Happy Hanukkah I'd just say thanks you too. Just 2 people spreading joy. What are your thoughts on this?

- This has gotten waaaayyyy out of hand, I simply refuse to kowtow to the misguided PC of our times and I now make a point of saying Merry Christmas and if someone corrects me I just look at them and laugh. I say God Bless you many times and if someone objects, tough. I am not giving my God or Christmas for anyone. These new so-called rights interfere with rights we have had all our lives. So bottom line, no one forces me to say anything against my will. If they choose to get offended, that's their problem.
- I'm not politically correct. I'm traditional and i think its stupid not to say god bless you or merry Christmas, it stops us having our own opinions and individuality.
- I am with you 100%. people are way to sensitive on what they deem unpleasant. i have to watch my mouth because if i slip up and say sh** or bit** I get no end of it. they are words. they have no power unless you give them power, and if someone is in the habit of taking good tidings and blanket statements out of context just so they can disagree with someone, then they deserve to be offended. Asshole,Merry Christmas, Happy Chanukah, Black, Gay, Mexican, Fat, GOD BLESS YOU!!! words... FREEDOM.
- Yeah I agree with you. If someone said Happy Kwanzaa to me, I would say "you too", not "I don't celebrate that". Don't want to be the killjoy.
- I enjoy being politically incorrect.
- I am strongly against Affirmative Action. When my friend found out I was against it, she called me a racist. It is politically incorrect to be against Affirmative Action....They say I am a racist even though I know that supporting Affirmative Action is racist..........categorizing and discriminating people on race is called racism!
