Postal Letter

How do I get a record of a certified mail through the post office?

I lost the return receipt, it was mailed about one year ago. I need it for an important lawsuit, and do not know how long the post office may have held to the record.

  1. If you don't have any kind of number or receipt after a year, I think your chances are pretty slim to zero. After all, it's been almost a year. They MIGHT be able to pull it up by your name or address, but I kind of doubt it. USPS delivers MILLIONS of letters. No one sits around and types in that info onto a database. It's up to you to keep track of your important documents - not them. Go and try to see if they can find it - it MIGHT still be on their computer system.
